The first two vehicle electrical system applications have been commissioned using P-LANet modules as 'system integration modules'. Rapid development of CAN and hardwired gateway functionality has been achieved using the standard P-LANet hardware, software building blocks and bespoke application software.
The initial application saw CAN gateway functionality, new electronic control features and integration of new-to-existing features, rapidly developed and deployed utilising a P-LANet Pluto Module. The Pluto module was delivered to a unique concept vehicle manufactured to support the development and test of a major new system on established architecture. From initial requirements capture, the Pluto module was delivered within 2 months, enabling the whole vehicle integration and commissioning activity to be completed within 4 months.
System integration functionality was also developed and deployed in rapid timescales for the second P-LANet vehicle application. Again utilising the standard Pluto hardware and software blocks, bespoke applications were rapidly developed and implemented to the vehicle. The module is currently being used to benchmark and assess 'new system' functionality 'on vehicle' for executive appraisal before committing to a final design. Utilising P-LANet in this application has enabled assessment of the vehicle features far earlier than would have been possible using traditional development methods and 'A-Sample' prototypes.
The successful deployment of these P-LANet Pluto modules coincides with additional Pluto applications which are increasing P-TEC’s own engineering and integration capabilities.
The second generic P-LANet Module aimed at Powertrain and Body Control functionality, based on high performance microprocessors, is currently under development.
